DESIGN FOR DISASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
This interactive installation was designed for SCAD Fibers Open Studio 2020, an event showcasing the work of Fibers students for fellow students, professors and members of the Savannah community. My collaborator Brie Yost and I decided to use this gathering of designers and consumers to educate on material stewardship and design for disassembly. Our goals are as follows:
Educate the community through an interaction that sparks thought, interest, and conversation
Foster a communal, cyclical attitude toward materials
Encourage consumers to consider the raw material value of products
Encourage designers to design for disassembly, increasing the longevity of a material’s life
